PSHE & RSE
The Department for Education's National Curriculum says -
Personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. All schools should teach PSHE, drawing on good practice, and this expectation is outlined in the introduction to the proposed new national curriculum.
Relationships and sex education (RSE) is an important part of PSHE education. Relationships education is compulsory for all primary school pupils, and relationships and sex education (RSE) is compulsory for all secondary school pupils.

Learning Journey
Creating a Safe Learning Environment for PSHE
Establishing a safe learning environment is an essential element of good practice in PSHE. Due to the complex and sensitive subject content that is taught about and discussed, it is essential that children are able to engage with learning in an environment where a safe climate of trust, cooperation and support has been established. In order to do this, we have created some ground rules for PSHE lessons:
Thinking like a Responsible Citizen
During every PSHE lesson, the children use the poster below to identify which strand of being a responsible citizen they are learning about. This supports the children in connecting their prior knowledge and, over time, gain confidence in talking about their learning and how they are able to become a responsible citizen.
